Remote Learning 2021

Dear Families,

We hope that everyone had a happy and healthy festive break.

Thank you for your continued patience and support as we move into a period of remote learning.

During the first lockdown both the school team and families learned a lot about how to support learning at home. Our combined experiences and feedback have been taken into account and we plan to provide the best offer we can given the challenging circumstances we find ourselves in once again.

We know that you will have lots of questions! We hope this letter will help outline how we will support learning remotely during lockdown. If you have any further questions please email us at

Our Remote Learning Offer

Class Teachers will be posting daily learning activities and these will be available from 9am every morning on Google Classroom (information about Google Classroom below). Each day, your child will have:

  • A piece of Literacy work.

  • A piece of Numeracy work.

  • Activity linked to Health and Wellbeing.

  • Activity linked to Interdisciplinary Learning.

  • A PE challenge.

There will also be a daily class online Meet as a wellbeing check-in with your child’s Class Teacher. These times and links will be added to Google Classroom.

Tasks will be assigned by Class Teachers on Google Classroom and feedback will be provided in a range of ways such as comments and Google Meets. Please note that there will be no deadline assigned to tasks as we understand and appreciate the need of families being able to work flexibly.

Children who are accessing our emergency childcare in school will have some opportunity to access Google Classroom whilst they are in the building. We will ensure that they join their daily Google Meets with their class and they will be supported to access their tasks. We do recognise that they may not be able to complete them all within the hours that they are in attendance and we therefore thank you for your support in ensuring these tasks are completed at home.

We will be monitoring how children are engaging with the Google Classroom activities. This may involve us getting in touch to establish how we can support your child to learn from home. Because staff may be working from home, please note these calls will come from an unknown or withheld number rather than the school phone number.

If there is anything we can do to support you with remote learning, please contact the school. Our building is open and a small team of staff are on hand to support getting help and resources to you, should you need it.

Google Classrooms

We aim to get all children and families engaged in remote learning via Google Classroom. This can be accessed on most devices including computers, tablets, chromebooks, mobiles and even games consoles! Find out more here

To support online learning, we have already provided over 100 families with funded Chromebooks before the break and have more devices available to borrow from school (just in case) - so no one will miss out.

Our online Google Classrooms for the school year 20/21 are already well established for each class. These will be used to support remote learning. Just in case you have lost or misplaced your child’s login details, we will share these again with you on Monday morning.

We have made a video to help you navigate Google Classroom, where to find your child’s work and how to hand in a piece of work. Please click on this link to access this . This will also be shared via your child’s Google Classroom, Twitter and our school website.

If you have not used Google Classroom before and need a little help, please do not hesitate to get in touch and we will support you and your child to do this. Contact us through the school email address which is and your email will be forwarded to the relevant member of staff.

Pupil Support and Family Support

Although our building is closed our teams are all still all working. In addition to the education provision being provided by our team through Google Classroom, we will also be available to support you wherever possible.

Some pupils or families may be invited to engage with our team in different ways - look out for communication from us. We will continue to plan ways where we can support and if there is something that you need then please email us and one of our support team will get back to you as soon as possible.

We will do our very best to support you through this challenging time.

Take care,
